From Your School Social Worker…
Welcome Back!
It is my hope that your school year is off to a great start. I am excited about my third year as the school social worker for Mabry Middle School. I look forward to the opportunity to support and assist you in providing your student with opportunities for academic and personal success.
My objectives are to:
- Assist students and parents in alleviating barriers to academic and personal success.
- Support our SIP of encouraging academic proficiency by creating opportunities for academic success through family support.
- Encourage and support academic success while enforcing the Georgia Compulsory School Attendance Law.
Please note that students need to be in their seats by the time the bell rings at 9:15 a.m. and ready for instruction. Any student entering the classroom after that time is tardy. Students who are in their seats on time alleviate the need for teachers to stop classroom instruction to accommodate their late arrival.
For your information: Checking in by 12:45 (no later) from morning appointments and checking out after 12:45 (no earlier) for afternoon appointments will allow your student to be counted as present for the entire day. Keep in mind that it is often difficult to re-gain lost instruction time. Please keep absences to a minimum.
Remind students to provide medical excuses to the attendance office upon his/her return. It will be helpful for their attendance records and if he/she should receive a referral for attendance later in the school year. The links to the attendance policy and law are included for your easy reference. Please feel free to contact me with questions or concerns throughout the school year.
