Field Day Info

Hey everyone, here is some important Field Day 08' information for you to check out!

6th grade field day is Wednesday, 5/14/08.
7th grade field day is Thursday, 5/15/08.
8th grade field day is Friday, 5/16/08
.

Morning events 9:30-11:30 am, individual events.
Lunch inside building, except for 8th graders who have a picnic out on busport.
Afternoon events 1:00-3:30 pm, team events.

* All students participate with their Homeroom classes for field day.

* All teams are made up by combining 2 homerooms each in the same grade level.

* Field day team colors need to be worn on your field day, whether you bought a field day t-shirt or wear your own shirt.

*All teams arrive at the back Mabry fields with their Homeroom classes after attendance is taken and announcements are made.

*Homeroom teachers are responsible for making sure their students know what to bring (water bottles, towels, tents, lawn chairs) for their team and how to dress appropriately (hats, sunscreen, shades, athletic shorts and shoes, field day t-shirt, or shirt of team color) for the sunny, hot weather.

*Homeroom teachers monitor/sign up students for events.

*Each student should sign up for 2 individual events in the morning, and one team event in afternoon.

*No student should sign up for morning events being run at same time. The start times are listed on sign up sheets.

*Field Day final event is a tug-of-war event. Teachers choose these students.

* Good sportsmanship and school appropriate attire and behavior is required at all times.

**Unfortunately, Mabry Field Day is not a community event and is not open to families and friends for security reasons.
*There will be a few volunteers that are secured by the field day crew and PE dept. to assist with certain tasks.

*Field Day results will be tabulated and announced/posted on Monday following field days.

Please address any other questions to me at my e-mail, Tracy.McCall@cobk12.org

Lacrosse Unit

Our Lax(abbreviation for Lacrosse) unit is going strong and many skills have been learned and practiced. The Jr. Trojan LAX program has been very generous to donate a class set LAX equipment to Mabry's PE dept. and we are making good use of it. Coach Banik and Coach Rowley have volunteered their time to help me instruct my students and try to get them started on the basic skills of LAX and I want to thank them for their generosity and taking valuable time out of their busy schedules to help my students.

My skills wall has all of these skills on it and technique and practice tips to help you out.

Catching and Throwing
Ground ball fielding
Shooting
Cradling
Dodging and Spinning
basic rules of play
