1/27/12 Similar Shapes, Chapter 5, Lesson 7

It's good to be back!  Today we reviewed the fraction classwork and then students took 2 column notes from Chapter 5, Lesson 7.  Please finish at home if you did not finish in class.

1/25/12 Wednesday

I am sick today so I was not in class.  Students reviewed mulitplying fractions and fractions with mixed numbers. 

We WILL have the quiz tomorrow.  It will be over dilations and scale factor, finding the scale factor of a dilation, and determining if two shapes are a dilation.  Tuesday night's homework will be checked before the quiz, so make sure you have it done and be prepared with any questions.

 

 

1/24/12 Finding scale factors and determining if two shapes are dialitons

Today students learned how to find the scale factor of dilated shapes, and then to determine if two shapes were dliations.  Notes are below. 

Homework:  Complete the worksheet handed out in class.  QUIZ TOMORROW covering dilations, scale factor, finding the scale factor, and determining if two shapes are dilations.

1/23/12 Dilations

I handed back the Test from last week and we reviewed the answers.  I had to keep the test as there are several who have not taken it yet.

Today we learned how to dilate (enlarge or reduce) shapes and plot them on the coordinate plane.  If you were absent, please see me for a copy of the notes.

Homework is the worksheet on diations handed out in class.

1/20/12 Finish Translation Activity

Students worked on the Translation Activity that we started last Friday.  Some finished in class and turned it in, those who didn't finish need to complete it over the weekend and turn it in on Monday.

Tests will be graded and reviewed on Monday.

1/19/12 Unit 4, Test 2 on Translations and Rotations

Students took the Unit 4 Test on Translations and Rotations today.  There is no formal homework tonight.

1-18-12 Reviewed Study Guide/Test Review

We only had 30 minute classes today because of the mock Writing Test.  We were able to check answerws to last nights homework, the Test Review.  Below are the answers that we went over in class.  Tonight you should review this Study Guide as well as the hand-outs and notes on how to translate and rotate.  Some students are still getting those rules confused.  MEMORIZE THE RULES!!

1-17-12 Review for Test on translations, symmetry, and rotations

Students were given a Test Review/Study Guide covering the material that will be on the test on Thursday.  Tomorrow students will participate in the Mock Writing Test and we will have 30 minute academic classes.  We will go over the study guide to clarify misconceptions and answer any questions during the time period.  Students will then have the entire period on Thursday for the test.  Students will finish their translational symmetry activity on Friday.

1/12/12 Symmetry

We check the homework on translations and then learned about symmetry.  Students were give a page of notes (front and back) decribing and giving examples of symmetry and we discussed this in class.

1/11/2012 Translations

Today students learned how to translate points and shapes on the coordinate plane.  Class notes are attached.  Homework is the front and back of the Translation worksheet handed out in class.
