Language Arts - Students will finish up the Civil Rights Unit in Ms. Hartnett's class this week. 

Science - Students have a test over Electricity and Magnetism on 2/22.

                     Students will begin the next unit on Waves on 2/23.

Week Of February 13

Language Arts-We will be in Ms. Hartnett's class for the next two weeks for a Civil Rights unit.  You may check her blog for assignments.  Please email me if you have any questions or concerns.

Week of October 31

Language Arts

10/31- Students will be reviewing for the test on "The Tell-Tale Heart".  The test will be on Wednesday, November 2.

10/31 HOMEWORK-Finish project and be prepared to present on Tuesday & review for test on 11/2

11/1- Students will be presenting their Edgar Allan Poe projects to the class. 

11/1-HOMEWORK-Review for test on 11/2 & make sure you bring a DEAR book to class.

11/2-Students will be taking a test on "The Tell-Tale Heart" and will DEAR after the test.

11/3-Students will be assigned an in-class writing assignment on Edgar Allan Poe's literature. 

11/4-Students will continue working on writing assignment. 

 

Week of October 24-Conference Week

Language Arts- Class will meet on Tuesday and Thursday only this week due to conference week schedule change. 

10-25 - Test on Edgar Allan Poe-Students should review their Cornell notes and be prepared to complete an expanded paragraph on why Edgar Allan Poe's life was tragic.  Students will also receive information on the Poe project that is due on 11/1

Week of September 12

Language Arts-This week, we have been reviewing simple sentences and learning the steps in Sentence Writing Strategy. 

On Monday, students were given a copy of cue cards 1-6 to review for a quiz over simple sentences on Friday, 9/16.

Week of August 22

Language Arts-We are finishing with the literary analysis of The Pearl this week.  Students should be able to give examples of plot, character, setting, conflict, theme, and symbolism from the story.  The test will be on Friday, August 26.

Students were assigned a cause-effect essay on The Pearl.  The essay should be completed at home independently and is due on August 30.  Students were given basic directions on how to complete this essay.  This essay will be used as a baseline to help determine instruction in class.  The other papers that will be written in this class will be completed with a great deal of support and will be a step by step process.  It is important for me to see the strengths and weaknesses of your child's writing, so I can address their needs in class.

Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year!  I'm looking forward to working with your child this year.  Before we know it, we will be enrolling them in their high school classes. 

Week of August 15

Language Arts-Students need to be finished with their summer reading selection, The Pearl.  We will begin our literary analysis of the novel on Thursday.
