We will continue working on The Civil Rights Timeline focusing on particular entries.  Additionally, your written response on the AJC articles, "A Protest That Changed History" and "Little Leaguers From 1955 Recall Symbolic Victory" is due on Monday, 1/30.

We began our unit on The Civil Rights movement on Monday.  Students are to complete and turn in the content questions on "The Children's March" tomorrow, 1/26.

Today and Thuirsday, we will continue working with The Civil Rights Timeline focusing on certain sections.  Expect a test on Friday, 127.

1/19/12 ALL CLASSES

All classes visited the media center where Mrs. Hendrix began reviewing media skills in preparation for CRCT's.

HOMEWORK:  All responses on "Tolerance", based on the movie Freedom Writers, are due tomorrow.

1/17 ALL CLASSES

The day of the writing test is finally upon us!  Hurray!

Remember to get a good night's sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and arrive to school on time.  We will be starting the test immediately after announcements!

YOU MUST BRING A #2 PENCIL AND BLUE OR BLACK INK PENS TO THE TEST!

1/1012 ALL CLASSES

Welcome back and happy new year!

In preparation for the 8th Grade Ga. Writing Assessment Test next Wednesday, 1/18,  all classes will be conducting final reviews for the test in these few remaining days.  All class work and homework assignments will focus on this, as well.

REMINDER:  Wednesdays are DEAR days for language arts, so please bring a book to read tomorrow.

 

12/20/11 ALL CLASSES

1.  Persuasive "Soccket" letters are completed and turned in. 

2.  Technical writing:  Classes will be disigning cookies  on paper and writing step by step directions for their designs.

3.  Wednesday:  Students will design their cookies by following classmates' directions. 

                                Students will assess dirrections.

4.  Thursday:  We will read O Henry's "Gift of the Magi" and hold class discussions.

After reading "Kick Start" and other articles on the Soccket, students took notes, and are preparing to write a persuasive later.  This is a class assignment, and it will be turned in tomorrow or Monday, depending on necessity.
