Review Lsn. 7-1 (Inside the Earth) in the textbook, the graphic organizers (circle and chart), and the Dir. Rdng. WS to prepare for the Lsn. 7-1 quiz re-take (if applicable-select students were informed of this yesterday). It will be given tomorrow during the class period. You may also answer the following questions and use them to prepare as well:
1. How do scientists know what earth’s interior looks like?
2. List and describe the chemical layers of the Earth. What are they made up of? What percentage of earth’s mass is occupied by each layer?
3. What makes up the tectonic plates? On which layer do they float (be specific)?
4. List and describe the physical layers of the Earth.
5. Why are some layers denser than others? Be specific.
6. List the chemical layers in the correct order from outward to the center of Earth.
7. List the physical layers in the correct order from outward to the center of Earth.
8. What are seismic waves? How are they useful in studying Earth's interior?
