Compare and contrast the prominent religions in Southern and Eastern Asia: Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, Shintoism and the philosophy of Confucianism.
We'll begin the interesting study of Asian religions...Hinduism, Buddhism, Shintoism, Jainism, Taoism, Confucianism...wait, is that a religion or a philosophy?
Cool 90 Second History of Religions
Our Jekyll week assignment we will be in the labs to create Inspiration diagrams on Asian religions. Some classes have had DVD clips about these Asian religions, some of you have worked on packets of information. For the 2+ hours of classes we'll have on Monday-Tuesday/Thursday-Friday, we'll get into partners and create an Inspiration diagram which you can turn into an outline to study! Neat, eh? For some of you this will be an "Advance Organizer" and for others, a culminating activity.
DAY ONE IN LAB: Inspiration. Create your map, adding color, features and clip art. Your teacher will guide you. Use the visual organizer called Ancient Asian Faiths to identify symbols and add other information to your topic.
HOMEWORK: Inductive Learning Activity. You'll use the Power Points to help you group and label the list of religious terms.
DAY TWO IN LAB: Use your Inductive Learning homework and the NOTES feature on Inspiration to complete your map.
