Test Change Revised Schedule: Economy test 10/30 Government test 11/5

I have reversed the TESTS!

Red Ribbon week has unfortunately shorten 2 periods of class and I want to review government really well before we test. The students are working on an Economy packet and they should be reviewing their economic terms from the handbook we defined and they have in their notebook. Some students have not taken my suggestion to fold their papers vertically and write the question on one side and the answer on the other. This would help them tremendously for studying. We will check and review all questions starting Tuesday and then they will have their corrected study guide to review Wed.,Thurs., before the test. Vocabulary and application are important. It will be matching and multiple choice.

Week of October 12-15 Decades of Distrust

1979 CAMP DAVID ACCORDS: U.S. President Jimmy Carter, Anwar Sadat of Egypt and Menachem Begin of Israel sign a peace treaty agreement. Israel returned the Sinai Peninsula to Egypt in exchange for Egypt's acceptance of Israel's existence.

Life in the West Bank

Today students learned the difference between a news article and an editorial. We read "A Palestinian's Plea" vs " A Settler's Side of the Story." From the two editorials, the students took notes to explain the problems each side endures and the way each one responds to their situation.  Their homework assignment is to write at least 2 paragraphs objectively describing life in the West Bank.Due Monday.

Israel Today

Students have taken Cornell notes on the history of Palestine and the creation of the state of Israel. We are developing the skill of summarizing the Cornell notes. Their beginning sentence should start with the main idea of the lesson: Israel's current problems are rooted in a long and complicated history.Then begin to explain briefly the history, including key points: Zionism, kibbutzim, 1948 statehood, 1950 The Law of Return, diversity of immigrants, the difference between secular and Orthodox Jews, and the people of Israel today. Include the Palestinian Arabs, The Declaration Establishment, and that not all Israeli inhabitants feel they are treated equally.

HW: A Tragic Ending for the the Exodus
Read and write a persuasive paragraph explaining each viewpoint about the issue of opening Palestine to Jewish Immigration. See back of paper.
Due Thursday.
