The test is TOMORROW!  Study.

There is a lab write-up due Friday on the lab that we completed yesterday.  It should be type-written if at all possible & should include the following things:

1. Your thoughts & observations about the lab
2. The data tables from the lab
3. Some research on lenses done on your own.

We did a lab on lenses to day.  Many students didn't have time to finish, so I'll provide a few minutes at the beginning of class tomorrow.

Test is in two days, so start studying.

Friday of last week & yesterday, we worked on a open-ended project for which the kids were able to choose their own way of expressing their understanding of the 4 wave behaviors: reflection, refraction, diffraction, & interference.  We'll be presenting them to the class today.

We did a lab on resonance in a pvc pipe today.  It was due at the end of the period.  The students on the AVID/Study Skills field trip today will not be required to make it up.

We discussed the differences between transverse & longitudinal waves today, then observed those differences in the motion of a slinky.  Afterward, we examined how sounds are produced by a tuning fork & a hollow tube, observing that what vibrates to produce the sound is different in each case.

We began to talk about waves & the parts of them today.  We drew a diagrams of a wave & labeled it.  There will be a quiz over this material on Thursday.

We did lesson 8 in the Second Step program.  This one concerned management of strong emotions.

We took the test today.  The kids felt that they did well and, taking a glace at them, I think that they probably did.

There was some homework tonight:

Read, take notes, & summarize p. 574-579 in the textbook.

We discussed the connection between electricity & magnetism today & then built simple electric motors using batteries & wire.  The lab sheet is attached below.
