Mercredi - BRING YOUR BOOKS AND WORKBOOKS TO CLASS!

• En classe: Review and practice concepts about the family, some irregular French adjectives, instructions for make up work for Band students who will be absent tomorrow,
• LES DEVOIRS: Complete p. 35, ex. 14-16 and pp. 36-37 (translate the reading about the Antilles in the space below the reading) - THIS IS ALL DUE FRIDAY. Band students were provided a handout on AVOIR expressions to complete, which is the work they will miss if absent on Thursday.

Jeudi

• En classe: Complete workbook pages and handouts
• LES DEVOIRS: Complete p. 35, ex. 14-16 and pp. 36-37 (translate the reading about the Antilles in the space below the reading) AND complete the handout practicing AVOIR expressions.

Vendredi

• En classe: Check homework/classwork, review activities
• LES DEVOIRS: Practice your family presentation. Ayez un bon weekend!

Our Family Project Continues...

We'll try to finish our family projects this week with PowerPoints finished by Wednesday and in-class presentations Thursday and Friday.

Next Tuesday is Mardi Gras - please remember your $2 donation for the King Cakes. Come dressed in costume and/or Mardi Gras colors on Tuesday.

 

Family Project This Week

We will be in the 8th grade lab all week working on your family presentations.  Be sure to bring in a flashdrive with your pictures that you will use for your project.

Thursday is International Night!

Tuesday, February 21 is Mardi Gras.  Madame is collecting $2 from each student for our Mardi Gras cakes which we're getting from an authentic French bakery!  Please give Madame your donation by next Friday, February 18.  Merci!

We start studying the family this week with the goal of making an electronic, interactive family tree.  Due to Madame's county meetings Friday and next Monday, students will work on a surprise activity and artistic project with prizes to follow.  Stay tuned...

• LES DEVOIRS: Check last week's classwork - compare you answers to Madame's and highlight your errors.  Add in the conjugation of avoir - use your notes.  We'll discuss this work on Wednesday.

• LES DEVOIRS: Complete active notes, pp. 112-113 (We'll start in class.)

• En classe: La famille et la maison (No DEAR due to missing instruction Tuesday for the health survey and Madame's county meetings.)

Weekend Bonus!

On a besoin de bonbons!  We need candy!  For every student who brings in a bag of individually wrapped candy, you and your peers who bring in a bag get a piece of candy!  Tuesday only for the reward + 5 bonus points, but bags of candy are accepted anytime!

We'll wrap up regular verb conjugation rules this week.  You have a quiz on Wednesday (oui, c'est vrai!) and another quiz on Friday. Be sure to practice -RE verbs at the online sites listed below Tuesday night and the -ER, -IR, and -RE verbs Wednesday and Thursday nights.

One other announcements: Since some food poster projects did not have student names on them (boo!), grades for the projects will be posted this 9 weeks as soon as students claim their unsigned work.

La semaine avant nos vacances - The Week Before Our Vacation

There was no weekend bonus.  Students who returned BOTH the international night flyer and the food fest flyer received 5 bonus points.

We'll spend Monday - Wednesday working on the food posters.  Homework is to get the Food Fest sheet signed by a parent - print out the one below if you lost your sheet.  This counts as a mini-assessment grade.

Lundi-Mercredi

• En classe: Food Posters (due at the end of class Wednesday or a group member takes home and finishes Wednesday night and brings to Madame during homeroom on Thursday)

• LES DEVOIRS: Bring in pictures/items you and your group chose for your posters, if necessary. Prepare for our food fest - you may bring your supply item (plates, cups, napkins, utensils, or soda) anytime between now and Thursday (label your item with your name and class period). Bring your food item on Thursday.

For Thursday, be sure to complete an index card with information about your dish with everyone's name on it if you are working in a group.  Due to food allergies, be sure to have a special lable if your dish has any wheat, peanuts, or shellfish in it AND let Madame or Senora know about your dish at the beginning of your class.  See earlier post for more Food Fest information.
